സ്ത്രീവിദ്യാഭ്യാസം അത്ര കണ്ട് പ്രചാരത്തിലില്ലാതിരുന്ന ഒരു കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ 1934-ൽ സെൻറ് തെരേസാസ് സന്യാസിനീ സമൂഹം അക്ഷര നഗരിയിൽ ആരംഭിച്ച സരസ്വതീക്ഷേത്രമാണ് മൗണ്ട് കാർമ്മൽ എച്ച്.എസ്.എസ്. ബഹുമാനപ്പെട്ട മദർ ക്ലെയറിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ മൂന്ന് അധ്യാപകരും പതിനഞ്ചു വിദ്യാത്ഥിനികളുമായി തുടങ്ങിയ ഈ വിദ്യാലയം വിജയപുരം രൂപതയുടെ കീഴിലാണ്.കേരളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രശസ്തമായ വിദ്യാലയങ്ങളിലൊന്നായ ഇത് പ്രഗൽഭരായ ഗുരുക്കൻമാരുടെ അശ്രാന്ത പരിശ്രമം കൊണ്ട് പാഠ്യപാഠ്യേതര രംഗങ്ങളിൽ‍ ഇന്നും മികവു പുലർത്തുന്നു.ബഹുമാന്യരായ മദർക്ലയർ,സിസ്റ്റർ അലോഷ്യസ്, മദർ ഗബ്രിയേൽ, സിസ്റ്റർ ഡെന്നീസ്,സിസ്റ്റർ അന൯സിയേറ്റ,സിസ്റ്റർ സ്റ്റാ൯സിലാവോസ് എന്നിവരാണ് ആദ്യകാല സാരഥികൾ.നൂതന സൗകര്യങ്ങളും പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളും ഒരോ കാലഘട്ടങ്ങളിലും കാര്യക്ഷമമായി നടത്തിയിരുന്നതിനാൽ ഈ സ്‌കൂളിന്റെ പ്രശസ്തി ലോകത്തിന്റെ ഏതു മുക്കിലും മൂലയിലും ചെന്നാലും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു . ഈ വിദ്യാലയത്തിൽ വിദ്യാദാനത്തോടൊപ്പം അച്ചടക്കം,ശുചിത്വം,അനുസര,കൃത്യനിഷ്‌ഠ ,സ്വഭാവസംസ്കരണം ,കായികകലാപ്രതിഭകളെ കണ്ടെത്തി അവരെ പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കൽ ഇവയ്ക്ക് കൂടുതൽ ശ്രദ്ധ നൽകിയിരുന്നു.മൗണ്ട് കാർമ്മലിൽ പഠിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ കുട്ടികളുടെയും കൈയ്യെഴുത്ത് ഒരുപോലെ ഇരിക്കണം എന്ന് നിർബന്ധമുണ്ട് .
